The Qing Ming Festival

The Qing ming (tomb sweeping) festival falls on 4 April this year and some of us may or may not go for it yet as it can be done 10 days before and after the actual day. It is a Buddhist and (or) Taoism tradition as to remember our ancestors and not to forget our past. It also serve as a remembrance to them.

Different countries and household may differ. My family’s ancestor plate is at a temple instead of a tomb so we went there to pray last Sunday. Not only we brought food, we also brought paper offerings to let them have a better after life. As most Taoism believed there is reincarnation, we believed that this paper offerings may help them move on to the next life.

Do you celebrate the festival or is there similar events like this in your country? Share it in the comments below!
